Company Announces Settlements with Robert Greenwood and Charles Rapp for Copyright and Trademark Infringement
London, UK (Feb. 13, 2009) ─ Rosetta Stone, Ltd., a leading worldwide provider of language-learning software, today announced that it has reached a settlement in cases against two individuals, Robert Greenwood and Charles Rapp for copyright and trademark infringement. The individuals were illegally reproducing, packaging and selling counterfeit products with the Rosetta Stone trademarks through an online trading web site.
Rosetta Stone continues to pursue a robust program to cut down on software piracy including the unauthorized copying, downloading, sharing (e.g., eDonkey, BitTorrent, Direct Connect) and selling of software as part of its commitment to help protect its customers and maintain the integrity of the products they purchase.
“Rosetta Stone will not tolerate copyright or trademark infringement. We are committed to staying a step ahead of this illegal activity, cutting down on software piracy to help protect our customers from falling victim to low-quality counterfeit software burned onto CDs,” said Michael Wu, general counsel, Rosetta Stone. “We are pleased that the individuals involved decided to take responsibility for their actions and settle these matters."
The settlements were in excess of $20,000, included stipulations by each individual enjoining future infringement, and required the production of a complete list of suppliers and purchasers of the unlawful software.
