Rosetta Stone Anti-Piracy Efforts Thwart Counterfeit Products

Company Announces Copyright and Trademark Infringement Arrest

Rosetta Stone Inc. (NYSE:RST), a leading provider of technology-based language-learning solutions, announced today that the company’s aggressive software anti-piracy efforts have resulted in the arrest of Christopher W. Nappi for copyright and trademark infringement. Nappi was arrested on May 29, 2009 for selling counterfeit Rosetta Stone® language learning software by the Computer Crimes Unit of the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office (Florida).

“Rosetta Stone applauds the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office’s efforts to stop the production and sale of counterfeit software. The arrest of this individual sends a strong message that counterfeiting software has the potential to carry criminal penalties for those who choose to engage in such illicit activities,” said Michael Wu, general counsel, Rosetta Stone. “Detective Keith De Persia and the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Computer Crimes Unit should be congratulated for their professionalism in the investigation that led to this arrest. Their work has a direct impact on helping protect consumers from pirated software and the risks associated with its use.”
