Leading language-learning company appoints new Managing Director for Europe

Leading language-learning software provider Rosetta Stone has appointed a new Managing Director for Europe, to drive expansion from the region’s headquarters in London.

Sylke Riester has a strong background in the telecommunications industry and brings with her the expertise in business growth to further the international expansion of the award-winning language-learning software company.

Sylke said: “Language learning connects people and broadens horizons, be it in work or personal life. The unique Rosetta Stone methodology is a fun way of learning a language and because it taps in to the way we all learnt our first language as children, success is natural.

"I look forward to seeing Rosetta Stone reach its potential by helping learners reach theirs, using the most forward-thinking technology and methodology."

Sylke previously worked for Tele2, a leading Swedish telecommunications company catering to 30 million customers across 11 European countries, for six years. Her various roles saw her work in a number of countries, as well as troubleshoot across Europe. Her roles included Marketing and Sales Director, based in Holland, Chief Executive, based in the UK, and Director of Sales for the Tele2 Group, based in the company’s home country of Sweden.

Driven to be at the cutting edge of business from an early age, her first job was in her entrepreneurial family business, which carved a niche in market research. She went on to take a role in a Dutch internet company offering a pioneering virtual marketplace.

A native Dutch speaker, Sylke is from a German family and so speaks German as well as English. She is learning Swedish with Rosetta Stone. Extensive travel within her career fortifies her belief in languages for business and as an invaluable aid to the personal travel experience. As a mother of two young bilingual children, language learning is a key part of her home and professional life while knowing how to bring technology and innovation to others is a significant trait of her career success.
