- Written and spoken English includes pairs of words condensed into a shorter form. In spoken English, these ‘contractions’ are more common than the full form. For example, the contraction “it’s” will occur far more frequently than “it is” which is mainly used for emphasis.
- English spelling is irregular. Many times you will come across the same sound written in alternate ways.
- A number of words are spelled the same yet have unique definitions and pronunciations. Rosetta Stone teaches you to differentiate between these words through context.
- While the vast majority of English nouns have singular and plural forms, they are not gender specific.
