- All Greek words are marked with a stress to indicate where emphasis is placed when pronouncing the word. Words containing just a single syllable stay unstressed.
- In spoken Greek, each letter produces a unique sound. There are several exceptions to this rule that Rosetta Stone will demonstrate.
- Nouns fall into one of three genders: masculine, feminine, and neuter.
- The ending of Greek nouns, adjectives and pronouns will alter depending on where they appear in the sentence, their gender, and whether they are singular or plural.
- In the Greek language, pronouns are often omitted from a sentence because their meaning can be expressed by the verb ending. Pronouns are employed primarily for emphasis.
- In formal conversation, the plural form of a verb is used.
- When writing a question in Greek, it should be end with a semi-colon ‘;’ to designate it as such.
