  • It is not unusual for the subject to be left out of a sentence in Portuguese. Rosetta Stone will help you learn to identify the speaker or who is being spoken about by recognising the verb form.
  • Portuguese nouns are divided by gender: masculine and feminine.
  • Instead of responding to questions with ‘yes,’ Portuguese speakers usually reply with a verb. For example:         Ela tem um livro?
            Tem.
  • The position of particular letters in a word will influence their pronunciation. Rosetta Stone will steer you towards proper pronunciation via controlled interaction and exercises.
  • Portuguese has both formal and informal methods of addressing others, depending on the age of the speaker and his or her relationship to the addressee.
