Spanish (Latin America) Learning Tips
Spanish Learning Tips
- Spanish pronunciation and spelling are consistent and uniform.
- Nouns fall into one of two genders: masculine or feminine.
- It is not unusual for the subject to be omitted from a sentence. Rosetta Stone will help you learn to identify the speaker or who is being spoken about by recognising the verb form.
- Spanish has two verbs representing ‘to be.’ One is used for qualities that are more permanent, and one for qualities that are more temporary.
- In numerous Spanish words, accent marks are used to signify emphasis.
- Often an accent separates words that are identical except for the mark. Such as: esta and está.
- The letters ñ and n differ in pronunciation. The letter ll is also pronounced differently than two single l’s.
- Spanish has both formal and informal methods of addressing others, depending on the age of the speaker and his or her relationship to the addressee.
